June 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4401 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3781 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2571 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. EMCORE CORP (NASDAQ:EMKR), ACTIVE POWER INC (NASDAQ:ACPW), TAIWAN SEMICONDUCTOR-SP ADR (NYSE:TSM), CAREFUSION CORP (NYSE:CFN), ADVANCED MICRO DEVICES (NYSE:AMD), ENERGY RECOVERY INC (NASDAQ:ERII). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     EMKR $-0.050 -2.02% 7,792,528 139.55% 1,026,111 18.38% 6,766,417 Abnormal
     ACPW $-0.140 -5.60% 5,913,596 141.28% 912,905 21.81% 5,000,691 Abnormal
     TSM $-0.450 -3.51% 5,894,917 35.59% 4,705,482 28.41% 1,189,435 Abnormal
     CFN $-0.350 -1.29% 1,967,029 55.41% 731,823 20.62% 1,235,206 Abnormal
     AMD $-0.060 -0.86% 8,035,538 29.46% 6,847,388 25.10% 1,188,150 Abnormal
     ERII $-0.080 -2.37% 1,342,588 79.16% 353,455 20.84% 989,133 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Wednesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EMKR with 6,766,417 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
