June 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 4401 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3781 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2571 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CHINA AUTOMOTIVE SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:CAAS), ASCENT SOLAR TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:ASTI), OMNOVA SOLUTIONS INC (NYSE:OMN), RUBICON MINERALS CORP (AMEX:RBY), PRO-DEX INC (NASDAQ:PDEX), POWERVERDE INC (OTCBB:PWVI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CAAS $-1.140 -12.30% 284,392 37.03% 379,663 49.43% -95,271 -836
     ASTI $-0.150 -12.50% 318,755 15.34% 1,759,080 84.65% -1,440,325 -96,022
     OMN $-1.270 -15.66% 596,423 26.41% 612,732 27.13% -16,309 -128
     RBY $-1.100 -23.11% 1,836,178 25.83% 2,517,759 35.41% -681,581 -6,196
     PDEX $-0.650 -23.64% 79,963 48.59% 81,697 49.64% -1,734 -27
     PWVI $-0.450 -13.04% 26,125 36.47% 32,112 44.83% -5,987 -133
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CAAS with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-1.14000 and a Friction Factor of -836 shares. That means that it only took 836 more shares of selling than buying to move CAAS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
