June 21, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 3560 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4305 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1695 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. WINDSTREAM CORP (NYSE:WIN), AT&T INC (NYSE:T), VERIZON COMMUNICATIONS INC (NYSE:VZ), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), RAYTHEON COMPANY (NYSE:RTN), BRISTOL-MYERS SQUIBB CO (NYSE:BMY). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction WIN $0.210 1.60% 1,343,819 17.11% 6,503,373 82.83% -5,159,554 Abnormal T $0.150 0.48% 12,726,225 35.33% 16,433,967 45.62% -3,707,742 Abnormal VZ $0.400 1.12% 3,372,255 18.06% 9,792,333 52.43% -6,420,078 Abnormal S $0.030 0.58% 13,605,699 22.47% 19,143,468 31.61% -5,537,769 Abnormal RTN $0.560 1.14% 759,948 13.69% 5,741,835 103.47% -4,981,887 Abnormal BMY $0.170 0.61% 2,245,469 14.52% 10,306,601 66.63% -8,061,132 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows WIN with 5,159,554 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.21000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
