Market Maker Surveillance Report. CMCSA, LOW, OMX, HPQ, HD, RF, Bullishly Biased Price Friction For Friday, June 17th 2011
June 17, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 4571 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3456 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2893 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. COMCAST CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CMCSA), LOWE'S COS INC (NYSE:LOW), OFFICEMAX INC (NYSE:OMX), HEWLETT-PACKARD CO (NYSE:HPQ), HOME DEPOT INC (NYSE:HD), REGIONS FINANCIAL CORP (NYSE:RF). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CMCSA $0.180 0.77% 8,065,262 34.09% 15,586,120 65.88% -7,520,858 Abnormal LOW $0.110 0.49% 4,903,213 19.19% 12,568,313 49.18% -7,665,100 Abnormal OMX $0.110 1.54% 2,285,472 22.23% 5,326,738 51.82% -3,041,266 Abnormal HPQ $0.030 0.09% 6,595,981 18.33% 17,738,000 49.29% -11,142,019 Abnormal HD $0.020 0.05% 2,796,873 16.64% 7,274,321 43.29% -4,477,448 Abnormal RF $0.100 1.62% 9,019,261 24.06% 13,211,521 35.24% -4,192,260 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CMCSA with 7,520,858 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.18000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
