June 16, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4411 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2552 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3967 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. FINISAR CORPORATION (NASDAQ:FNSR), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI), SPIRIT AEROSYSTEMS HOLD-CL A (NYSE:SPR), FORD MOTOR CO (NYSE:F), ORACLE CORP (NASDAQ:ORCL), (NASDAQ:QQQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction FNSR $-3.000 -16.90% 13,721,215 55.27% 10,992,126 44.28% 2,729,089 Abnormal SIRI $-0.020 -1.03% 39,372,189 53.13% 35,771,698 48.27% 3,600,491 Abnormal SPR $-0.290 -1.34% 3,994,178 66.33% 620,385 10.30% 3,373,793 Abnormal F $-0.320 -2.43% 27,138,166 30.98% 24,842,780 28.36% 2,295,386 Abnormal ORCL $-0.370 -1.19% 17,848,479 57.46% 12,679,066 40.82% 5,169,413 Abnormal QQQ $-0.210 -0.39% 28,247,468 51.06% 26,648,679 48.17% 1,598,789 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows FNSR with 2,729,089 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-3.00000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
