June 16, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4411 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2552 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3967 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ACURA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ACUR), SCHOOL SPECIALTY INC (NASDAQ:SCHS), PARKVALE FINANCIAL CORP (NASDAQ:PVSA), HYDROGENICS CORP (NASDAQ:HYGS), NEURALSTEM INC (AMEX:CUR), LONGWEI PETROLEUM INVESTMENT (AMEX:LPH). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ACUR $0.430 11.85% 305,608 51.78% 284,602 48.22% 21,006 489
     SCHS $1.840 14.95% 145,611 50.38% 140,643 48.66% 4,968 27
     PVSA $9.100 82.73% 716,126 60.27% 458,754 38.61% 257,372 283
     HYGS $0.970 17.83% 101,132 56.03% 71,324 39.52% 29,808 307
     CUR $0.150 11.63% 75,820 32.45% 50,629 21.67% 25,191 1,679
     LPH $0.220 16.54% 370,033 38.88% 351,663 36.95% 18,370 835
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ACUR with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.43000 and a Friction Factor of 489 shares. That means that it only took 489 more shares of buying than selling to move ACUR higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
