June 9, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 4398 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3638 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2873 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. CHINA NORTH EAST PETROLEUM (AMEX:NEP), COFFEE HOLDING CO INC (AMEX:JVA), CATALYST PHARMACEUTICAL PART (NASDAQ:CPRX), ORSUS XELENT TECHNOLOGIES IN (AMEX:ORS), EASYLINK SERVICES INTL-CL A (NASDAQ:ESIC), (OTC:BORK). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction NEP $0.480 17.52% 233,300 36.84% 190,044 30.01% 43,256 901 JVA $3.640 42.82% 1,940,419 50.81% 1,765,223 46.22% 175,196 481 CPRX $0.280 16.97% 499,225 55.30% 402,042 44.54% 97,183 3,471 ORS $0.910 45.73% 652,853 35.44% 602,837 32.72% 50,016 550 ESIC $0.830 20.85% 719,489 50.22% 712,116 49.70% 7,373 89 BORK $1.050 26.72% 158,887 18.96% 156,316 18.65% 2,571 24Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows NEP with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.48000 and a Friction Factor of 901 shares. That means that it only took 901 more shares of buying than selling to move NEP higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
