June 7, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2796 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2442 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2263 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO (NYSE:GE), SYMANTEC CORP (NASDAQ:SYMC), RITE AID CORP (NYSE:RAD), ISHARES MSCI JAPAN INDEX FD (NYSE:EWJ), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), FORD MOTOR CO (NYSE:F). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction GE $0.020 0.11% 13,260,650 25.44% 15,795,525 30.30% -2,534,875 Abnormal SYMC $0.280 1.52% 5,877,494 37.58% 9,604,835 61.40% -3,727,341 Abnormal RAD $0.020 1.87% 1,592,580 18.41% 3,390,704 39.19% -1,798,124 Abnormal EWJ $0.070 0.69% 3,030,692 26.35% 5,081,513 44.18% -2,050,821 Abnormal INTC $0.240 1.10% 28,678,163 46.62% 32,764,087 53.26% -4,085,924 Abnormal F $0.040 0.29% 19,721,974 27.54% 22,065,313 30.81% -2,343,339 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows GE with 2,534,875 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
