Market Maker Surveillance Report. XLF, SMH, EEM, PPA, XOP, GGRI, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Monday, June 6th 2011

June 6, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2406 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1102 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4141 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. FINANCIAL SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLF), SEMICONDUCTOR HOLDRS TRUST (NYSE:SMH), ISHARES MSCI EMERGING MKT IN (NYSE:EEM), POWERSHARES AERO & DEFENSE (NYSE:PPA), SPDR S&P OIL & GAS EXP & PR (NYSE:XOP), (OTC:GGRI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     XLF $-0.270 -1.77% 54,913,491 48.58% 24,792,756 21.93% 30,120,735 Abnormal
     SMH $-0.100 -0.28% 5,328,600 62.26% 1,199,645 14.02% 4,128,955 Abnormal
     EEM $-0.830 -1.73% 19,117,453 37.17% 12,176,368 23.68% 6,941,085 Abnormal
     PPA $-0.010 -0.04% 1,237,492 96.95% 36,719 2.88% 1,200,773 Abnormal
     XOP $-2.080 -3.56% 2,354,438 37.05% 1,104,566 17.38% 1,249,872 Abnormal
     GGRI $-0.054 -63.41% 15,653,592 45.65% 13,564,263 39.56% 2,089,329 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLF with 30,120,735 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.27000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
