June 3, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2623 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1494 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3389 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. FINANCIAL SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLF), ISHARES MSCI EMERGING MKT IN (NYSE:EEM), PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), WHITNEY HOLDING CORP (NASDAQ:WTNY), ORACLE CORP (NASDAQ:ORCL), (:GGRI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     XLF $-0.120 -0.78% 23,416,806 23.87% 19,025,837 19.40% 4,390,969 Abnormal
     EEM $-0.270 -0.56% 17,291,238 37.18% 8,629,818 18.56% 8,661,420 Abnormal
     PFE $-0.220 -1.05% 11,557,588 32.58% 8,551,900 24.11% 3,005,688 Abnormal
     WTNY $-0.060 -0.45% 6,632,524 61.04% 4,144,239 38.14% 2,488,285 Abnormal
     ORCL $-0.270 -0.83% 14,113,957 56.18% 10,839,568 43.15% 3,274,389 Abnormal
     GGRI $-0.952 -90.67% 8,426,500 58.01% 2,851,500 19.63% 5,575,000 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Friday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLF with 4,390,969 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.12000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
