June 3, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2623 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1494 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3389 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. AIR METHODS CORP (NASDAQ:AIRM), QUIKSILVER INC (NYSE:ZQK), OXIGENE INC (NASDAQ:OXGN), CATALYST PHARMACEUTICAL PART (NASDAQ:CPRX), GT SOLAR INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:SOLR), ELEPHANT TALK COMMUNICATIONS (OTCBB:ETAK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     AIRM $13.200 21.94% 390,585 50.30% 380,039 48.94% 10,546 8
     ZQK $0.660 15.07% 3,573,230 33.35% 2,952,196 27.56% 621,034 9,410
     OXGN $0.720 20.69% 2,935,296 54.59% 2,438,729 45.35% 496,567 6,897
     CPRX $0.410 31.99% 799,459 50.31% 786,115 49.47% 13,344 325
     SOLR $1.480 12.27% 7,121,983 51.95% 6,312,301 46.04% 809,682 5,471
     ETAK $0.420 14.33% 425,952 49.25% 195,386 22.59% 230,566 5,490
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AIRM with a dollar gain Friday of $13.20000 and a Friction Factor of 8 shares. That means that it only took 8 more shares of buying than selling to move AIRM higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
