Market Maker Surveillance Report. ENMD, ESI, COCO, STRA, OWW, HIL, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Thursday, Jun
June 2, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2777 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2094 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2570 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ENTREMED INC (NASDAQ:ENMD), ITT EDUCATIONAL SERVICES INC (NYSE:ESI), CORINTHIAN COLLEGES INC (NASDAQ:COCO), STRAYER EDUCATION INC (NASDAQ:STRA), ORBITZ WORLDWIDE INC (NYSE:OWW), HILL INTERNATIONAL INC (NYSE:HIL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ENMD $1.470 42.12% 186,184 59.66% 124,465 39.89% 61,719 420 ESI $14.970 21.16% 1,761,865 29.80% 1,590,507 26.90% 171,358 114 COCO $1.050 26.32% 17,592,115 50.20% 17,402,317 49.66% 189,798 1,808 STRA $23.070 18.93% 1,044,453 52.71% 895,313 45.18% 149,140 65 OWW $0.640 28.96% 1,103,129 32.60% 1,094,708 32.35% 8,421 132 HIL $2.570 58.94% 2,044,342 33.18% 1,950,950 31.67% 93,392 363Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ENMD with a dollar gain Thursday of $1.47000 and a Friction Factor of 420 shares. That means that it only took 420 more shares of buying than selling to move ENMD higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
