June 1, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2272 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1144 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4274 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. NAUTILUS INC (NYSE:NLS), WILLBROS GROUP INC (NYSE:WG), SKYPEOPLE FRUIT JUICE INC (AMEX:SPU), AMERICAN SUPERCONDUCTOR CORP (NASDAQ:AMSC), CAROLINA TRUST BANK (NASDAQ:CART), CHINA BIOLOGIC PRODUCTS INC (NASDAQ:CBPO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     NLS $-0.410 -16.40% 247,018 30.41% 251,387 30.95% -4,369 -107
     WG $-1.780 -17.91% 56,730 22.07% 98,036 38.14% -41,306 -232
     SPU $-0.470 -18.43% 715,297 42.40% 957,842 56.78% -242,545 -5,161
     AMSC $-2.560 -23.95% 5,226,483 47.08% 5,854,436 52.74% -627,953 -2,453
     CART $-0.500 -16.67% 33,768 12.48% 67,345 24.89% -33,577 -672
     CBPO $-2.400 -17.42% 57,318 48.21% 60,685 51.04% -3,367 -14
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NLS with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.41000 and a Friction Factor of -107 shares. That means that it only took 107 more shares of selling than buying to move NLS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
