May 31, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2756 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3395 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1635 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS INC (NASDAQ:LVLT), NEOMEDIA TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTCBB:NEOM), NOKIA CORP-SPON ADR (NYSE:NOK), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI), ALLSCRIPTS HEALTHCARE SOLUTI (NASDAQ:MDRX), AVANIR PHARMACEUTICALS INC-A (NASDAQ:AVNR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     LVLT $-0.050 -1.94% 62,685,329 57.98% 45,398,352 41.99% 17,286,977 Abnormal
     NEOM $-0.118 -57.05% 36,532,192 50.24% 33,873,875 46.59% 2,658,317 Abnormal
     NOK $-1.180 -14.39% 65,126,622 40.78% 49,941,685 31.27% 15,184,937 Abnormal
     SIRI $-0.020 -0.84% 209,801,266 71.04% 84,638,790 28.66% 125,162,476 Abnormal
     MDRX $-0.050 -0.25% 11,168,902 81.29% 2,569,393 18.70% 8,599,509 Abnormal
     AVNR $-0.180 -3.85% 10,460,225 64.04% 5,861,949 35.89% 4,598,276 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows LVLT with 17,286,977 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.05000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
