May 27, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2546 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3140 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1621 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BEACON POWER CORPORATION (NASDAQ:BCON), LIFE PARTNERS HOLDINGS INC (NASDAQ:LPHI), FIBERTOWER CORP (NASDAQ:FTWR), RXI PHARMACEUTICALS CORP (NASDAQ:RXII), UR-ENERGY INC (AMEX:URG), AMERICA WEST RESOURCES INC (OTC:AWSR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BCON $0.360 33.96% 1,771,429 50.66% 1,730,308 49.48% 41,121 1,142 LPHI $0.780 21.85% 139,128 58.94% 94,009 39.83% 45,119 578 FTWR $0.490 44.14% 4,534,764 52.51% 4,099,954 47.47% 434,810 8,874 RXII $0.160 14.68% 2,374,471 54.56% 1,973,809 45.36% 400,662 25,041 URG $0.290 19.21% 1,646,511 40.76% 1,202,467 29.77% 444,044 15,312 AWSR $0.500 38.46% 83,334 31.51% 67,468 25.51% 15,866 317Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BCON with a dollar gain Friday of $0.36000 and a Friction Factor of 1,142 shares. That means that it only took 1,142 more shares of buying than selling to move BCON higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
