May 25, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2702 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3090 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1984 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ZALE CORP (NYSE:ZLC), GENERAL MOLY INC (AMEX:GMO), GLU MOBILE INC (NASDAQ:GLUU), MARTHA STEWART LIVING-A (NYSE:MSO), QUANTUM FUEL SYSTEMS TECHNOL (NASDAQ:QTWW), ACCELER8 TECHNOLOGY CORP (AMEX:AXK). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ZLC $0.810 18.33% 1,437,215 30.04% 1,365,900 28.55% 71,315 880
     GMO $0.720 17.56% 1,504,031 31.96% 1,330,990 28.29% 173,041 2,403
     GLUU $0.820 20.71% 5,011,729 57.34% 3,723,348 42.60% 1,288,381 15,712
     MSO $0.900 23.87% 1,804,222 30.88% 1,802,097 30.84% 2,125 24
     QTWW $1.400 36.27% 1,799,589 53.22% 1,543,693 45.65% 255,896 1,828
     AXK $0.800 17.90% 178,145 42.56% 109,048 26.05% 69,097 864
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ZLC with a dollar gain Wednesday of $0.81000 and a Friction Factor of 880 shares. That means that it only took 880 more shares of buying than selling to move ZLC higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
