Market Maker Surveillance Report. ROIAK, DEER, FFHL, LEHJQ, BAMM, ZOOM, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Wednesday
May 25, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2702 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3090 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1984 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. RADIO ONE INC -CL D (NASDAQ:ROIAK), DEER CONSUMER PRODUCTS INC (NASDAQ:DEER), Fuwei Films (Holdings) Co. Ltd. - ORDINARY SHARES (NASDAQ:FFHL), Lehman Brothers Fin Sa Depositary (OTC:LEHJQ), BOOKS-A-MILLION INC (NASDAQ:BAMM), ZOOM TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ZOOM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction ROIAK $-0.270 -9.80% 627,276 42.30% 805,751 54.33% -178,475 -6,610 DEER $-1.330 -15.43% 145,261 37.06% 241,362 61.58% -96,101 -723 FFHL $-0.510 -12.26% 96,603 42.22% 122,087 53.36% -25,484 -500 LEHJQ $-0.012 -57.50% 75,600 14.33% 451,959 85.67% -376,359 -327,269 BAMM $-0.470 -10.63% 103,578 37.35% 173,771 62.65% -70,193 -1,493 ZOOM $-0.670 -20.81% 422,634 43.33% 547,617 56.14% -124,983 -1,865Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows ROIAK with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.27000 and a Friction Factor of -6,610 shares. That means that it only took 6,610 more shares of selling than buying to move ROIAK lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
