Market Maker Surveillance Report. LNG, IFNY, RRGB, ZLC, OPXT, WAMKQ, Winning Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Friday, May
May 20, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2588 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1670 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3274 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. CHENIERE ENERGY INC (AMEX:LNG), INFINITY ENERGY RESOURCES (OTC:IFNY), RED ROBIN GOURMET BURGERS (NASDAQ:RRGB), ZALE CORP (NYSE:ZLC), OPNEXT INC (NASDAQ:OPXT), Washington Mutual De (OTC:WAMKQ). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction LNG $2.190 28.48% 3,715,477 28.59% 3,293,827 25.35% 421,650 1,925 IFNY $0.500 25.00% 54,045 41.24% 51,010 38.93% 3,035 61 RRGB $6.690 23.46% 1,157,629 50.97% 1,085,853 47.81% 71,776 107 ZLC $0.620 17.56% 576,555 39.58% 485,127 33.30% 91,428 1,475 OPXT $0.660 35.29% 6,182,511 54.60% 5,130,109 45.30% 1,052,402 15,945 WAMKQ $0.500 98.04% 267,409 49.17% 80,002 14.71% 187,407 3,748Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows LNG with a dollar gain Friday of $2.19000 and a Friction Factor of 1,925 shares. That means that it only took 1,925 more shares of buying than selling to move LNG higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
