May 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2754 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2552 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2215 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. FAIRPOINT COMMUNICATIONS INC (NYSE:FRP), CLEAN DIESEL TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:CDTI), SUPERCONDUCTOR TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:SCON), Fuwei Films (Holdings) Co. Ltd. - ORDINARY SHARES (NASDAQ:FFHL), GLU MOBILE INC (NASDAQ:GLUU), PRIME SUN POWER INC (OTCBB:PSPW). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     FRP $1.480 15.16% 1,170,170 56.07% 900,250 43.14% 269,920 1,824
     CDTI $0.630 16.31% 103,046 51.09% 98,236 48.71% 4,810 76
     SCON $0.460 18.70% 1,000,302 54.13% 833,459 45.10% 166,843 3,627
     FFHL $0.670 17.78% 179,071 56.26% 136,121 42.77% 42,950 641
     GLUU $0.690 20.12% 3,359,360 51.45% 3,140,036 48.09% 219,324 3,179
     PSPW $0.240 26.67% 280,327 33.81% 233,663 28.18% 46,664 1,944
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FRP with a dollar gain Thursday of $1.48000 and a Friction Factor of 1,824 shares. That means that it only took 1,824 more shares of buying than selling to move FRP higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
