May 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2754 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2552 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2215 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. BUCKLE INC/THE (NYSE:BKE), OXIGENE INC (NASDAQ:OXGN), TBS INTERNATIONAL PLC-A (NASDAQ:TBSI), CHINA-BIOTICS INC (NASDAQ:CHBT), YONGYE INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:YONG), GULF RESOURCES INC (NASDAQ:GFRE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction BKE $-6.710 -14.01% 785,058 28.55% 813,752 29.59% -28,694 -43 OXGN $-0.830 -16.15% 1,798,132 46.33% 2,066,606 53.24% -268,474 -3,235 TBSI $-0.150 -11.54% 96,134 40.38% 141,943 59.62% -45,809 -3,054 CHBT $-1.780 -14.76% 449,394 41.30% 544,222 50.01% -94,828 -533 YONG $-0.850 -19.63% 2,343,888 49.24% 2,387,665 50.16% -43,777 -515 GFRE $-0.510 -11.64% 1,274,603 46.97% 1,408,637 51.91% -134,034 -2,628Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows BKE with a dollar loss Thursday of $-6.71000 and a Friction Factor of -43 shares. That means that it only took 43 more shares of selling than buying to move BKE lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
