May 13, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2669 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1486 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3488 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. EASTERN PLATINUM LTD (OTC:ELRFF), ISHARES SILVER TRUST (NYSE:SLV), CLEARWIRE CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CLWR), SMOKEFREE INNOTEC INC (OTC:SFIO), MERCK & CO. INC. (NYSE:MRK), AMGEN INC (NASDAQ:AMGN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ELRFF $0.013 1.35% 82,000 7.69% 984,900 92.31% -902,900 Abnormal
     SLV $0.980 2.94% 28,381,103 24.13% 30,591,145 26.00% -2,210,042 Abnormal
     CLWR $0.020 0.50% 2,783,658 44.09% 3,532,015 55.94% -748,357 Abnormal
     SFIO $0.012 20.60% 71,309,335 45.73% 75,269,082 48.27% -3,959,747 Abnormal
     MRK $0.140 0.38% 3,193,572 27.72% 4,621,593 40.12% -1,428,021 Abnormal
     AMGN $0.810 1.36% 4,243,470 44.99% 5,047,773 53.51% -804,303 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Friday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ELRFF with 902,900 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.01260. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
