May 10, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2484 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3727 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1487 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. PARK-OHIO HOLDINGS CORP (NASDAQ:PKOH), CALLON PETROLEUM CO (NYSE:CPE), MEDIFAST INC (NYSE:MED), OXIGENE INC (NASDAQ:OXGN), DEALERTRACK HOLDINGS INC (NASDAQ:TRAK), LIGHTING SCIENCE GROUP CORP (OTC:LSCG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     PKOH $3.850 19.24% 100,392 56.54% 74,416 41.91% 25,976 67
     CPE $1.380 22.33% 1,289,018 38.08% 1,182,135 34.92% 106,883 775
     MED $3.640 17.86% 1,069,006 32.00% 877,215 26.26% 191,791 527
     OXGN $0.850 27.33% 3,921,178 55.35% 3,150,743 44.48% 770,435 9,064
     TRAK $4.180 19.61% 678,482 49.97% 664,460 48.94% 14,022 34
     LSCG $0.700 21.21% 328,404 57.24% 243,557 42.45% 84,847 1,212
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PKOH with a dollar gain Tuesday of $3.85000 and a Friction Factor of 67 shares. That means that it only took 67 more shares of buying than selling to move PKOH higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
