Market Maker Surveillance Report. EWS, CX, EFA, F, USO, GDX, Bearishly Biased Price Friction For Thursday, May 5th 2011
May 5, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2673 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1706 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3261 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. ISHARES MSCI SINGAPORE (NYSE:EWS), CEMEX SAB-SPONS ADR PART CER (NYSE:CX), ISHARES MSCI EAFE INDEX FUND (NYSE:EFA), FORD MOTOR CO (NYSE:F), UNITED STATES OIL FUND LP (NYSE:USO), MARKET VECTORS GOLD MINERS (NYSE:GDX). CX $-0.010 -0.07% 8,074,993 38.92% 6,448,862 31.08% 1,626,131 Abnormal

F $-0.060 -0.40% 18,627,286 29.96% 16,915,510 27.21% 1,711,776 Abnormal
USO $-3.710 -8.58% 12,995,092 21.39% 10,479,071 17.25% 2,516,021 Abnormal
GDX $-2.180 -3.74% 7,109,723 30.13% 5,281,891 22.39% 1,827,832 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows EWS with 1,805,801 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.11000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
