May 4, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2380 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1412 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3492 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CAPITAL TRUST-CL A (NYSE:CT), OPENTABLE INC (NASDAQ:OPEN), ACADIA PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ACAD), LIFEVANTAGE CORP (OTCBB:LFVN), KANDI TECHNOLOGIES CORP (NASDAQ:KNDI), NATURALLY ADVANCED TECHNOLOG (OTCBB:NADVF). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     CT $-0.690 -14.71% 105,838 27.41% 180,168 46.65% -74,330 -1,077
     OPEN $-16.100 -15.33% 3,070,171 47.95% 3,275,008 51.15% -204,837 -127
     ACAD $-0.430 -15.87% 955,067 40.83% 1,383,855 59.17% -428,788 -9,972
     LFVN $-0.380 -20.11% 1,672,616 46.76% 1,868,538 52.23% -195,922 -5,156
     KNDI $-0.600 -21.98% 624,398 45.36% 748,402 54.37% -124,004 -2,067
     NADVF $-0.650 -15.29% 128,917 31.92% 161,953 40.10% -33,036 -508
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows CT with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.69000 and a Friction Factor of -1,077 shares. That means that it only took 1,077 more shares of selling than buying to move CT lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
