May 3, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2523 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1504 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3642 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. MULTIBAND CORP (NASDAQ:MBND), MERGE HEALTHCARE INC (NASDAQ:MRGE), BIOSCRIP INC (NASDAQ:BIOS), EXLSERVICE HOLDINGS INC (NASDAQ:EXLS), ORSUS XELENT TECHNOLOGIES IN (AMEX:ORS), LIFEVANTAGE CORP (OTCBB:LFVN). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MBND $0.640 19.05% 128,969 54.85% 102,967 43.79% 26,002 406 MRGE $0.980 20.59% 1,427,660 55.43% 1,140,049 44.26% 287,611 2,935 BIOS $1.430 31.64% 2,181,869 52.75% 1,946,460 47.06% 235,409 1,646 EXLS $3.620 17.73% 677,775 79.65% 166,621 19.58% 511,154 1,412 ORS $0.980 89.91% 123,629 33.78% 91,312 24.95% 32,317 330 LFVN $0.400 27.21% 2,144,001 56.06% 1,656,469 43.31% 487,532 12,188Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MBND with a dollar gain Tuesday of $0.64000 and a Friction Factor of 406 shares. That means that it only took 406 more shares of buying than selling to move MBND higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
