May 2, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2659 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1979 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3076 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. BANK OF GRANITE CORP (NASDAQ:GRAN), OXIGENE INC (NASDAQ:OXGN), GENETIC TECH LTD-SP ADR (NASDAQ:GENE), SINOCOKING COAL AND COKE CHE (NASDAQ:SCOK), FREQUENCY ELECTRONICS INC (NASDAQ:FEIM), PROSHARES ULTRASHORT SILVER (NYSE:ZSL). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     GRAN $0.220 22.45% 282,181 50.22% 279,659 49.78% 2,522 115
     OXGN $0.500 28.41% 1,364,449 63.14% 796,476 36.86% 567,973 11,359
     GENE $2.150 37.26% 2,041,962 51.02% 1,905,068 47.60% 136,894 637
     SCOK $1.150 17.97% 1,027,896 55.53% 778,712 42.07% 249,184 2,167
     FEIM $1.320 12.84% 165,014 50.28% 157,742 48.06% 7,272 55
     ZSL $2.250 16.50% 15,059,452 34.69% 13,895,974 32.01% 1,163,478 5,171
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows GRAN with a dollar gain Monday of $0.22000 and a Friction Factor of 115 shares. That means that it only took 115 more shares of buying than selling to move GRAN higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
