April 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2575 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3104 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1879 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Friday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SUN HEALTHCARE GROUP INC (NASDAQ:SUNH), KVH INDUSTRIES INC (NASDAQ:KVHI), HORIZON LINES INC-CL A (NYSE:HRZ), CRYOPORT INC (OTCBB:CYRX), SKILLED HEALTHCARE GROU-CL A (NYSE:SKH), SENTRY PETROLEUM LTD (OTCBB:SPLM). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     SUNH $-1.920 -14.08% 732,323 47.47% 796,836 51.65% -64,513 -336
     KVHI $-2.730 -17.25% 316,561 48.66% 326,944 50.26% -10,383 -38
     HRZ $-0.370 -17.29% 2,132,673 34.30% 2,459,688 39.56% -327,015 -8,838
     CYRX $-0.360 -27.07% 216,509 40.24% 246,585 45.83% -30,076 -835
     SKH $-2.290 -15.89% 732,463 34.41% 768,024 36.08% -35,561 -155
     SPLM $-0.390 -15.00% 148,329 31.59% 316,700 67.45% -168,371 -4,317
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SUNH with a dollar loss Friday of $-1.92000 and a Friction Factor of -336 shares. That means that it only took 336 more shares of selling than buying to move SUNH lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
