April 21, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2564 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3184 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1887 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), MICROSOFT CORP (NASDAQ:MSFT), GRUBB & ELLIS CO (NYSE:GBE), CAREVIEW COMMUNICATIONS INC (OTC:CRVW), GILEAD SCIENCES INC (NASDAQ:GILD), FIFTH THIRD BANCORP (NASDAQ:FITB). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     S $-0.020 -0.42% 14,351,855 48.84% 12,040,123 40.98% 2,311,732 Abnormal
     MSFT $-0.260 -1.01% 25,903,105 55.78% 22,136,189 47.66% 3,766,916 Abnormal
     GBE $-0.030 -3.85% 2,469,747 82.36% 529,559 17.66% 1,940,188 Abnormal
     CRVW $-0.010 -0.58% 1,544,500 97.91% 32,943 2.09% 1,511,557 Abnormal
     GILD $-1.720 -4.22% 11,373,604 51.66% 10,162,201 46.16% 1,211,403 Abnormal
     FITB $-0.170 -1.28% 12,525,461 56.99% 9,446,510 42.98% 3,078,951 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows S with 2,311,732 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.02000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
