April 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2528 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2844 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2247 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. PFIZER INC (NYSE:PFE), CEMEX SAB-SPONS ADR PART CER (NYSE:CX), ISHARES MSCI EAFE INDEX FUND (NYSE:EFA), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), ACTIVISION BLIZZARD INC (NASDAQ:ATVI), VALERO ENERGY CORP (NYSE:VLO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     PFE $0.130 0.64% 13,055,152 40.47% 14,824,746 45.96% -1,769,594 Abnormal
     CX $0.070 0.85% 5,667,980 41.22% 7,233,111 52.61% -1,565,131 Abnormal
     EFA $0.450 0.75% 5,457,242 46.77% 6,959,591 59.65% -1,502,349 Abnormal
     INTC $1.130 5.76% 32,969,271 48.15% 34,812,468 50.84% -1,843,197 Abnormal
     ATVI $0.090 0.77% 2,652,133 31.17% 5,855,690 68.81% -3,203,557 Abnormal
     VLO $0.660 2.44% 5,179,260 37.85% 6,657,116 48.65% -1,477,856 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows PFE with 1,769,594 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.13000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
