Market Maker Surveillance Report. CPY, HAUP, TNCC, OWW, SHZ, LLEN, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, April
April 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2528 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2844 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2247 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. CPI CORP (NYSE:CPY), HAUPPAUGE DIGITAL INC (NASDAQ:HAUP), TENNESSEE COMMERCE BANCORP (NASDAQ:TNCC), ORBITZ WORLDWIDE INC (NYSE:OWW), CHINA SHEN ZHOU MINING & RES (AMEX:SHZ), L&L ENERGY INC (NASDAQ:LLEN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction CPY $-2.640 -12.37% 124,786 42.04% 157,273 52.98% -32,487 -123 HAUP $-0.220 -9.28% 123,423 43.84% 157,059 55.79% -33,636 -1,529 TNCC $-0.330 -8.64% 156,484 48.04% 169,226 51.96% -12,742 -386 OWW $-0.430 -13.27% 353,154 34.40% 564,331 54.97% -211,177 -4,911 SHZ $-1.210 -20.54% 2,162,117 36.05% 3,497,582 58.32% -1,335,465 -11,037 LLEN $-0.640 -8.64% 734,659 48.79% 770,009 51.14% -35,350 -552Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows CPY with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-2.64000 and a Friction Factor of -123 shares. That means that it only took 123 more shares of selling than buying to move CPY lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
