April 19, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2528 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2844 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2247 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. BANK OF AMERICA CORP (NYSE:BAC), NEW YORK COMMUNITY BANCORP (NYSE:NYB), SYNOVUS FINANCIAL CORP (NYSE:SNV), REYNOLDS AMERICAN INC (NYSE:RAI), CISCO SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:CSCO), SCHWAB (NYSE:SCHW). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     BAC $-0.080 -0.64% 85,304,216 47.06% 78,959,251 43.56% 6,344,965 Abnormal
     NYB $-0.800 -4.68% 6,012,780 47.50% 5,168,291 40.83% 844,489 Abnormal
     SNV $-0.070 -2.61% 11,901,652 51.24% 9,847,786 42.40% 2,053,866 Abnormal
     RAI $-0.040 -0.11% 6,906,421 77.48% 1,806,441 20.27% 5,099,980 Abnormal
     CSCO $-0.060 -0.36% 41,039,094 54.90% 33,586,745 44.93% 7,452,349 Abnormal
     SCHW $-0.150 -0.86% 6,499,067 53.74% 5,595,248 46.27% 903,819 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows BAC with 6,344,965 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.08000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
