April 18, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2485 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1209 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4082 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. SHANDA INTERACTIVE-SPON ADR (NASDAQ:SNDA), NEOPROBE CORP (AMEX:NEOP), AUTHENTIDATE HOLDING CORP (NASDAQ:ADAT), THORATEC CORP (NASDAQ:THOR), CHELSEA THERAPEUTICS INTERNA (NASDAQ:CHTP), TELESTONE TECHNOLOGIES CORP (NASDAQ:TSTC). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     SNDA $7.840 17.83% 458,334 53.90% 385,015 45.28% 73,319 94
     NEOP $0.460 11.41% 1,075,489 56.57% 825,531 43.43% 249,958 5,434
     ADAT $0.190 17.50% 737,036 63.39% 425,617 36.61% 311,419 16,390
     THOR $3.350 12.21% 1,978,805 49.31% 1,947,127 48.52% 31,678 95
     CHTP $0.920 23.12% 1,901,457 53.29% 1,659,942 46.52% 241,515 2,625
     TSTC $0.740 14.47% 380,906 52.97% 336,050 46.73% 44,856 606
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SNDA with a dollar gain Monday of $7.84000 and a Friction Factor of 94 shares. That means that it only took 94 more shares of buying than selling to move SNDA higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
