April 6, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2522 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2757 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2340 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ONSTREAM MEDIA CORP (NASDAQ:ONSM), NATURAL ALTERNATIVES INTL (NASDAQ:NAII), RUBY TUESDAY INC (NYSE:RT), DYNATRONICS CORP (NASDAQ:DYNT), VIVO PARTICIPACOES SA-ADR (NYSE:VIV), LIGHTING SCIENCE GROUP CORP (OTC:LSCG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ONSM $-0.250 -13.81% 393,140 46.75% 419,936 49.93% -26,796 -1,072
     NAII $-1.150 -20.76% 123,941 43.48% 141,299 49.57% -17,358 -151
     RT $-1.500 -11.09% 825,521 46.01% 874,497 48.74% -48,976 -327
     DYNT $-0.200 -10.81% 297,561 43.47% 386,932 56.53% -89,371 -4,469
     VIV $-4.160 -9.57% 787,669 49.19% 813,955 50.84% -26,286 -63
     LSCG $-0.350 -9.46% 165,170 43.15% 217,102 56.72% -51,932 -1,484
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ONSM with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.25000 and a Friction Factor of -1,072 shares. That means that it only took 1,072 more shares of selling than buying to move ONSM lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
