April 4, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2636 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2972 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2477 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Monday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ASCENT SOLAR TECHNOLOGIES (NASDAQ:ASTI), RADVISION LTD (NASDAQ:RVSN), ADVANCED PHOTONIX INC-CL A (AMEX:API), HORIZON LINES INC-CL A (NYSE:HRZ), ENOVA SYSTEMS INC (AMEX:ENA), SANTA FE GOLD CORP (OTCBB:SFEG). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ASTI $-0.450 -21.03% 1,236,843 41.97% 1,709,614 58.01% -472,771 -10,506
     RVSN $-2.040 -17.06% 183,845 40.99% 254,970 56.85% -71,125 -349
     API $-0.220 -11.22% 244,685 38.87% 360,679 57.30% -115,994 -5,272
     HRZ $-0.210 -16.07% 1,796,790 45.29% 2,142,427 54.00% -345,637 -16,459
     ENA $-0.140 -10.00% 53,534 41.03% 80,627 61.80% -27,093 -1,935
     SFEG $-0.140 -12.96% 54,391 20.63% 209,322 79.37% -154,931 -11,067
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ASTI with a dollar loss Monday of $-0.45000 and a Friction Factor of -10,506 shares. That means that it only took 10,506 more shares of selling than buying to move ASTI lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
