March 30, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2291 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3810 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1754 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Wednesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. AMBASSADORS INTERNATIONAL (NASDAQ:AMIE), HYDROGENICS CORP (NASDAQ:HYGS), OXFORD INDUSTRIES INC (NYSE:OXM), MELA SCIENCES INC (NASDAQ:MELA), ONSTREAM MEDIA CORP (NASDAQ:ONSM), BOVIE MEDICAL CORP (AMEX:BVX). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction AMIE $1.780 152.14% 860,563 54.81% 703,063 44.78% 157,500 885 HYGS $0.900 17.82% 83,160 60.73% 50,775 37.08% 32,385 360 OXM $8.110 32.43% 920,848 46.77% 820,130 41.65% 100,718 124 MELA $0.580 18.30% 1,655,234 54.69% 1,365,359 45.11% 289,875 4,998 ONSM $0.360 27.27% 438,062 53.36% 381,687 46.49% 56,375 1,566 BVX $0.810 30.11% 115,747 45.76% 99,879 39.49% 15,868 196Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows AMIE with a dollar gain Wednesday of $1.78000 and a Friction Factor of 885 shares. That means that it only took 885 more shares of buying than selling to move AMIE higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
