March 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2387 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3372 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2055 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bullish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices rose. ISHARES MSCI BRAZIL (NYSE:EWZ), FINANCIAL SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLF), GSI COMMERCE INC (NASDAQ:GSIC), SPDR S&P OIL & GAS EXP & PR (NYSE:XOP), ERICSSON (NASDAQ:ERIC), FIRST TRUST FINANCIAL ALPHAD (NYSE:FXO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     EWZ $0.840 1.13% 5,189,949 44.30% 6,524,005 55.69% -1,334,056 Abnormal
     XLF $0.040 0.27% 17,833,716 46.48% 20,534,284 53.52% -2,700,568 Abnormal
     GSIC $0.010 0.04% 4,402,722 43.47% 5,701,155 56.28% -1,298,433 Abnormal
     XOP $0.840 1.34% 1,309,727 35.72% 2,338,923 63.78% -1,029,196 Abnormal
     ERIC $0.090 0.71% 7,573,528 47.08% 8,513,104 52.92% -939,576 Abnormal
     FXO $0.050 0.36% 261,402 17.52% 1,231,018 82.48% -969,616 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more selling than buying on Tuesday and their stock prices rose. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EWZ with 1,334,056 greater shares of selling than buying (NetVol) and the stock price was up $0.84000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more selling than buying should cause prices to drop.
