March 29, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2387 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3372 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2055 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. ISHARES MSCI JAPAN INDEX FD (NYSE:EWJ), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), APOLLO GROUP INC-CL A (NASDAQ:APOL), ENERGY TRANSFER PARTNERS LP (NYSE:ETP), HERTZ GLOBAL HOLDINGS INC (NYSE:HTZ), CLEARWIRE CORP-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CLWR). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction EWJ $-0.010 -0.05% 23,788,782 52.24% 21,748,962 47.76% 2,039,820 Abnormal INTC $-0.060 -0.29% 31,086,863 51.76% 28,352,110 47.21% 2,734,753 Abnormal APOL $-1.820 -4.30% 5,250,893 55.12% 4,180,741 43.88% 1,070,152 Abnormal ETP $-1.160 -2.24% 7,489,142 54.33% 5,195,349 37.69% 2,293,793 Abnormal HTZ $-0.870 -5.35% 11,439,011 47.02% 9,949,296 40.89% 1,489,715 Abnormal CLWR $-0.010 -0.27% 2,915,865 59.68% 1,928,784 39.48% 987,081 AbnormalAnalysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows EWJ with 2,039,820 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.01000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
