March 24, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2484 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3282 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1911 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. UNIGENE LABORATORIES INC (OTCBB:UGNE), MAJESCO ENTERTAINMENT CO (NASDAQ:COOL), TALBOTS INC (NYSE:TLB), TRIDENT MICROSYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:TRID), LIGHTPATH TECHNOLOGIES INC-A (NASDAQ:LPTH), POSTROCK ENERGY CORP (NASDAQ:PSTR). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     UGNE $0.220 24.44% 879,329 56.62% 535,927 34.51% 343,402 15,609
     COOL $0.610 25.74% 2,756,248 55.26% 2,221,191 44.53% 535,057 8,771
     TLB $1.060 22.08% 7,850,153 43.92% 7,676,984 42.95% 173,169 1,634
     TRID $0.260 28.78% 2,351,153 59.82% 1,547,969 39.39% 803,184 30,892
     LPTH $0.870 63.50% 1,644,008 52.27% 1,473,367 46.85% 170,641 1,961
     PSTR $1.370 27.40% 198,134 60.98% 122,720 37.77% 75,414 550
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows UGNE with a dollar gain Thursday of $0.22000 and a Friction Factor of 15,609 shares. That means that it only took 15,609 more shares of buying than selling to move UGNE higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
