March 21, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2265 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4155 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1395 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. DIRECTV-CLASS A (NASDAQ:DTV), HUNTINGTON BANCSHARES INC (NASDAQ:HBAN), JPMORGAN CHASE & CO (NYSE:JPM), SPRINT NEXTEL CORP (NYSE:S), SBA COMMUNICATIONS CORP-CL A (NASDAQ:SBAC), QWEST COMMUNICATIONS INTL (NYSE:Q). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     DTV $-0.040 -0.09% 6,319,825 57.98% 4,573,332 41.96% 1,746,493 Abnormal
     HBAN $-0.050 -0.76% 9,399,673 55.03% 7,492,632 43.87% 1,907,041 Abnormal
     JPM $-0.090 -0.20% 13,304,364 46.46% 11,361,285 39.67% 1,943,079 Abnormal
     S $-0.660 -13.07% 156,201,601 51.96% 144,308,860 48.00% 11,892,741 Abnormal
     SBAC $-3.570 -8.79% 5,050,681 54.04% 4,095,888 43.82% 954,793 Abnormal
     Q $-0.190 -2.74% 12,536,061 50.22% 10,041,334 40.22% 2,494,727 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Monday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows DTV with 1,746,493 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.04000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
