March 11, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2668 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2592 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2324 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the highest net sell volume on Friday and lowest negative price Friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. ISHARES FTSE/XINHUA CHINA 25 (NYSE:FXI), QUALCOMM INC (NASDAQ:QCOM), PRINCETON REVIEW INC (NASDAQ:REVU), CHIMERA INVESTMENT CORP (NYSE:CIM), ISHARES MSCI JAPAN INDEX FD (NYSE:EWJ), UNITED STATES OIL FUND LP (NYSE:USO). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

     QCOM $-0.590 -1.09% 8,412,417 44.48% 10,492,089 55.48% -2,079,672 -35,249
     REVU $-0.120 -22.90% 1,930,426 33.32% 3,863,001 66.68% -1,932,575 -161,048
     CIM $-0.020 -0.47% 5,742,108 38.84% 8,412,690 56.91% -2,670,582 -1,335,291
     EWJ $-0.170 -1.57% 24,059,528 38.34% 41,341,193 65.88% -17,281,665 -1,016,569
     USO $-0.630 -1.52% 11,419,021 42.44% 14,574,619 54.17% -3,155,598 -50,089
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have low price friction combined with more selling than buying (negative Net Volume) in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows FXI down $-0.17000 with a Friction Factor of -199,226 and a Net Volume of -3,386,838. That means that it takes 199,226 more shares of selling than buying to drop FXI by one penny. On Monday the Market Makers allowed the stock to move down on heavier selling than buying (low negative friction).
