March 10, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2144 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1007 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4619 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. FINANCIAL SELECT SECTOR SPDR (NYSE:XLF), FINISAR CORPORATION (NASDAQ:FNSR), SIRIUS XM RADIO INC (NASDAQ:SIRI), RITE AID CORP (NYSE:RAD), CEMEX SAB-SPONS ADR PART CER (NYSE:CX), FORD MOTOR CO (NYSE:F). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     XLF $-0.330 -1.95% 48,124,098 51.79% 46,271,534 49.79% 1,852,564 Abnormal
     FNSR $-0.710 -2.89% 7,744,930 60.92% 4,868,774 38.30% 2,876,156 Abnormal
     SIRI $-0.040 -2.22% 18,706,370 54.36% 15,470,481 44.96% 3,235,889 Abnormal
     RAD $-0.020 -1.64% 4,808,405 67.89% 2,032,642 28.70% 2,775,763 Abnormal
     CX $-0.080 -0.92% 29,542,995 47.54% 27,794,214 44.73% 1,748,781 Abnormal
     F $-0.240 -1.68% 51,082,361 47.83% 44,500,982 41.67% 6,581,379 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Thursday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows XLF with 1,852,564 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.33000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
