March 10, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2144 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1007 companies with positive Friction Factors and 4619 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Thursday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. SMTC CORPORATION (NASDAQ:SMTX), SIGMATRON INTERNATIONAL INC (NASDAQ:SGMA), SIGA TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:SIGA), CROWN MEDIA HOLDINGS-CLASS A (NASDAQ:CRWN), TRANSITION THERAPEUTICS INC (NASDAQ:TTHI), CHINA ENERGY CORP (OTCBB:CHGY). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     SMTX $-0.510 -14.66% 341,824 42.46% 460,534 57.21% -118,710 -2,328
     SGMA $-0.950 -15.20% 26,481 47.62% 29,127 52.38% -2,646 -28
     SIGA $-2.590 -16.94% 924,855 45.79% 1,043,191 51.64% -118,336 -457
     CRWN $-0.500 -16.84% 323,844 44.40% 405,514 55.59% -81,670 -1,633
     TTHI $-0.700 -13.97% 163,411 37.12% 273,090 62.04% -109,679 -1,567
     CHGY $-0.180 -14.75% 101,938 31.24% 219,375 67.23% -117,437 -6,524
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows SMTX with a dollar loss Thursday of $-0.51000 and a Friction Factor of -2,328 shares. That means that it only took 2,328 more shares of selling than buying to move SMTX lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
