March 8, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2487 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3290 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1847 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. ISHARES MSCI CANADA (NYSE:EWC), EXXON MOBIL CORP (NYSE:XOM), INTEL CORP (NASDAQ:INTC), URBAN OUTFITTERS INC (NASDAQ:URBN), ISHARES COMEX GOLD TRUST (AMEX:IAU), MFA FINANCIAL INC (NYSE:MFA). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     EWC $-0.130 -0.39% 3,133,270 60.48% 2,047,534 39.52% 1,085,736 Abnormal
     XOM $-0.040 -0.05% 8,746,834 49.68% 7,357,560 41.79% 1,389,274 Abnormal
     INTC $-0.070 -0.32% 29,249,092 50.77% 28,353,476 49.22% 895,616 Abnormal
     URBN $-6.390 -16.82% 9,627,777 55.11% 7,789,362 44.58% 1,838,415 Abnormal
     IAU $-0.070 -0.47% 4,570,143 63.13% 2,593,661 35.83% 1,976,482 Abnormal
     MFA $-0.200 -2.36% 26,171,994 49.59% 23,955,645 45.39% 2,216,349 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows EWC with 1,085,736 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.13000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
