March 8, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2487 companies with "abnormal" market making, 3290 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1847 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Tuesday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ADVOCAT INC (NASDAQ:AVCA), CHINA SECURITY & SURVEILLANC (NYSE:CSR), TII NETWORK TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:TIII), INTERPHASE CORP (NASDAQ:INPH), BIODEL INC (NASDAQ:BIOD), VIASYSTEMS GROUP INC (NASDAQ:VIAS). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     AVCA $1.310 23.61% 147,823 60.09% 97,775 39.75% 50,048 382
     CSR $1.100 26.83% 6,697,000 47.89% 5,873,222 42.00% 823,778 7,489
     TIII $0.570 16.91% 877,581 61.02% 559,184 38.88% 318,397 5,586
     INPH $1.410 26.85% 627,637 59.43% 423,454 40.10% 204,183 1,448
     BIOD $0.300 15.38% 2,708,006 56.89% 2,052,846 43.13% 655,160 21,839
     VIAS $4.350 18.14% 143,374 79.85% 35,574 19.81% 107,800 248
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows AVCA with a dollar gain Tuesday of $1.31000 and a Friction Factor of 382 shares. That means that it only took 382 more shares of buying than selling to move AVCA higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
