March 7, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Monday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Monday there were 2381 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1404 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3970 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Monday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. EDAP TMS SA -ADR (NASDAQ:EDAP), SYNTHESIS ENERGY SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:SYMX), RAM ENERGY RESOURCES INC (NASDAQ:RAME), PHARMASSET INC (NASDAQ:VRUS), NEOSTEM INC (AMEX:NBS), CUBIC ENERGY INC (AMEX:QBC). Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction EDAP $1.160 32.40% 419,215 58.10% 297,310 41.21% 121,905 1,051 SYMX $0.640 47.06% 2,459,794 50.62% 2,389,813 49.18% 69,981 1,093 RAME $0.440 21.78% 7,989,857 51.44% 7,536,930 48.53% 452,927 10,294 VRUS $12.180 24.47% 1,426,681 52.88% 1,248,897 46.29% 177,784 146 NBS $0.260 17.45% 624,575 54.18% 476,481 41.33% 148,094 5,696 QBC $0.140 16.11% 1,044,265 50.93% 873,681 42.61% 170,584 12,185Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows EDAP with a dollar gain Monday of $1.16000 and a Friction Factor of 1,051 shares. That means that it only took 1,051 more shares of buying than selling to move EDAP higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
