March 2, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Wednesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Wednesday there were 2689 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2757 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2358 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Wednesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. MINES MANAGEMENT INC (AMEX:MGN), CENTRAL PACIFIC FINANCIAL CO (NYSE:CPF), CAPITAL TRUST-CL A (NYSE:CT), NEW ENERGY TECHNOLOGIES INC (OTCBB:NENE), BULLION MONARCH MINING INC (OTCBB:BULM), KUNEKT CORP (:KNKT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction MGN $-0.530 -13.49% 350,685 40.12% 476,832 54.56% -126,147 -2,380 CPF $-3.020 -13.42% 82,496 40.88% 103,984 51.52% -21,488 -71 CT $-0.330 -12.36% 189,375 34.09% 312,566 56.27% -123,191 -3,733 NENE $-0.190 -13.87% 292,340 36.18% 494,959 61.26% -202,619 -10,664 BULM $-0.310 -15.90% 198,403 37.01% 337,609 62.99% -139,206 -4,491 KNKT $-0.240 -13.11% 2,761,688 39.82% 3,226,728 46.52% -465,040 -19,377Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows MGN with a dollar loss Wednesday of $-0.53000 and a Friction Factor of -2,380 shares. That means that it only took 2,380 more shares of selling than buying to move MGN lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
