Market Maker Surveillance Report. TGIS, CEDC, SOL, TNS, YRCW, KNKT, Losing Stocks With Lowest Price Friction For Tuesday, Marc
March 1, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2565 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1566 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3789 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage loss per share Tuesday and low price friction (bearish). This means that there was more selling than buying in the stocks and their stock prices dropped faster with less Friction. THOMAS GROUP INC (NASDAQ:TGIS), CENTRAL EURO DISTRIBUTION CP (NASDAQ:CEDC), RENESOLA LTD-ADR (NYSE:SOL), TNS INC (NYSE:TNS), YRC WORLDWIDE INC (NASDAQ:YRCW), KUNEKT CORP (:KNKT). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:
Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction TGIS $-0.540 -20.77% 45,262 48.68% 46,221 49.71% -959 -18 CEDC $-8.300 -36.32% 5,999,388 47.36% 6,309,826 49.81% -310,438 -374 SOL $-1.970 -17.83% 6,292,564 48.41% 6,525,485 50.20% -232,921 -1,182 TNS $-3.220 -17.08% 354,767 45.85% 394,095 50.93% -39,328 -122 YRCW $-0.400 -14.93% 4,505,016 48.70% 4,722,791 51.05% -217,775 -5,444 KNKT $-1.080 -37.37% 7,135,788 41.46% 7,713,591 44.82% -577,803 -5,350Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net dollar losses (Change) and extremely low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.
For example, the chart above shows TGIS with a dollar loss Tuesday of $-0.54000 and a Friction Factor of -18 shares. That means that it only took 18 more shares of selling than buying to move TGIS lower by one penny. This means the Market Makers are allowing the stock to drop quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and negative market direction can drive prices lower faster than normal.
