March 1, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Tuesday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Tuesday there were 2565 companies with "abnormal" market making, 1566 companies with positive Friction Factors and 3789 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with Abnormal Price Friction (bearish bias) in their stock prices. This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices dropped. NEWPARK RESOURCES INC (NYSE:NR), CISCO SYSTEMS INC (NASDAQ:CSCO), INSPIRE PHARMACEUTICALS INC (NASDAQ:ISPH), QWEST COMMUNICATIONS INTL (NYSE:Q), MARSHALL & ILSLEY CORP (NYSE:MI), MOVE INC (NASDAQ:MOVE). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     NR $-0.250 -3.58% 3,399,224 69.63% 1,274,863 26.12% 2,124,361 Abnormal
     CSCO $-0.010 -0.05% 32,457,607 52.63% 30,592,140 49.61% 1,865,467 Abnormal
     ISPH $-0.090 -2.24% 2,517,251 115.83% 656,643 30.22% 1,860,608 Abnormal
     Q $-0.180 -2.64% 12,017,631 54.41% 9,851,655 44.60% 2,165,976 Abnormal
     MI $-0.070 -0.90% 5,716,231 55.67% 3,758,527 36.60% 1,957,704 Abnormal
     MOVE $-0.040 -1.89% 4,766,328 83.99% 2,085,607 36.75% 2,680,721 Abnormal
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above had more buying than selling on Tuesday and their stock prices dropped. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows NR with 2,124,361 greater shares of buying than selling (NetVol) and the stock price was down $-0.25000. This means the Market Makers were trading the stock in a way inconsistent with normal supply and demand (Economics 101); more buying than selling should cause prices to rise.
