February 25, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Friday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Friday there were 2300 companies with "abnormal" market making, 4149 companies with positive Friction Factors and 1381 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Friday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. ALANCO TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:ALAN), ANALYSTS INTERNATIONAL CORP (NASDAQ:ANLY), OMNIVISION TECHNOLOGIES INC (NASDAQ:OVTI), RADIO ONE INC-CL A (NASDAQ:ROIA), TASTY BAKING CO (NASDAQ:TSTY), ATA INC-ADR (NASDAQ:ATAI). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     ALAN $0.650 63.11% 1,585,656 51.22% 1,509,431 48.76% 76,225 1,173
     ANLY $1.080 31.40% 210,847 51.57% 197,795 48.38% 13,052 121
     OVTI $7.640 32.03% 7,608,469 51.39% 7,016,618 47.40% 591,851 775
     ROIA $0.460 24.34% 72,146 67.65% 34,500 32.35% 37,646 818
     TSTY $0.700 29.66% 210,990 60.68% 135,962 39.10% 75,028 1,072
     ATAI $1.640 29.82% 70,899 58.88% 49,113 40.79% 21,786 133
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows ALAN with a dollar gain Friday of $0.65000 and a Friction Factor of 1,173 shares. That means that it only took 1,173 more shares of buying than selling to move ALAN higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
