February 24, 2011 / M2 PRESSWIRE / BUYINS.NET / www.buyins.net, announced today its proprietary Market Maker Friction Factor Report for Thursday. Since October 2008 market makers are now required to be on the bid as much as they are on the offer and for like amounts of stock. This Fair Market Making Requirement is designed to prevent market makers from manipulating stock prices. On Thursday there were 2754 companies with "abnormal" market making, 2581 companies with positive Friction Factors and 2478 companies with negative Friction Factors. Here is a list of the top companies with the largest percentage gain per share Thursday and low price friction (bullish). This means that there was more buying than selling in the stocks and their stock prices rose faster with less Friction. TOR MINERALS INTERNATIONAL (NASDAQ:TORM), BRUSH ENGINEERED MATERIALS (NYSE:BW), KADANT INC (NYSE:KAI), CARIBOU COFFEE CO INC (NASDAQ:CBOU), EFUTURE INFORMATION TECHNOLO (NASDAQ:EFUT), HKN INC (AMEX:HKN). Market Maker Friction Factor is shown in the chart below:

Symbol Change Percent Buy Volume Buy %% Sell Volume Sell %% Net Volume Friction
     TORM $2.190 19.87% 119,038 53.88% 93,441 42.30% 25,597 117
     BW $7.040 20.43% 271,603 44.99% 252,852 41.88% 18,751 27
     KAI $3.080 14.80% 382,051 51.09% 335,457 44.86% 46,594 151
     CBOU $1.280 14.51% 417,697 53.54% 360,192 46.17% 57,505 449
     EFUT $1.040 21.53% 82,202 61.65% 50,637 37.98% 31,565 304
     HKN $0.600 18.64% 259,450 47.84% 223,427 41.19% 36,023 600
Analysis of the Friction Factor chart above shows that each of the six stocks mentioned above have high net buy volumes (buy volume, sell volume) and low price friction in their stocks. The Friction Factor displays how many more shares of buying than selling are required to move a stock higher by one cent or how many more shares of selling than buying moves a stock lower by 1 cent.

For example, the chart above shows TORM with a dollar gain Thursday of $2.19000 and a Friction Factor of 117 shares. That means that it only took 117 more shares of buying than selling to move TORM higher by one penny. The Market Makers are currently allowing the stock to rise quickly (low friction). The combination of low friction and positive market direction can drive prices higher much faster than normal.
